Free Campsite at the Artic Circle, Alaska

Posted by: The Photo Investigator in Free Campsite 4 years ago

The Dalton Highway stretches from Fairbanks, Alaska, to the Artic Ocean, and is the only road which reaches the Artic Ocean in Alaska.  The Alaska Pipeline loosely follows the path of the road all the way to transport oil from the Artic to Valdez.  The Dalton highway was created in order to build the pipeline, and is one of the roughest highways in the world, stretching 300 miles without a gas station.  The photo below contains GPS coordinates to the free campground at the Artic Circle, check out the GPS location and get directions using the iOS Photo Investigator App:

Free Backpacking in Denali National Park, Alaska

Denali National Park is an amazing place.  First off, every National Park I've been to previously exhorts visitors to "STAY ON THE PATHS," but at Denali they say "DON'T MAKE PATHS."  In this spirit, the photo below gives the GPS location of where you go to get your backpacking permit, but the campsite image shown below does NOT include GPS metadata to avoid creating a "social trail."  Check out the location in the image using the iOS Photo Investigator App:

Free Campsite in Key Largo, Florida

The photo below contains GPS coordinates to a free campsite on Key Largo in the Florida Keys.  The site is in the back of a neighborhood, and you should be able to walk off the road slightly into the mangroves.  Check out the location in the image using the iOS Photo Investigator App.  Key Largo is the first of the famous "Florida Keys", which stretch about 200 miles into the Gulf of Mexico.  Hotels throughout the keys are at least $120 a night, so scoring a site for a tent was a HUGE win!
